Online camp zooms into town!

We would usually be heading off doing something like ghyll scrambling or mountain biking on this Monday after a busy weekend of going to church and the beach.  Unfortunately that can’t happen this year due to COVID-19, but instead, we’ve launched camp online!

This has obviously brought about lots of changes, but two things have not changed – we had loads of fun, and heard some great biblical truths!  The theme this year is camping, so our three tent groups (“In’tents’,” “T-ents” and “I get locked down, but I get up again”) spent the day playing camping related games.  Some even spent the day in their sleeping bags and in their tents!

In the middle of the day, some of the campers and leaders did some baking – pictures are to follow later, with some amazing camping themed decorations!

Ole shared his thoughts on the story of John the Baptist, who pointed the way towards Jesus, and we continued thinking about that in “tent prayers” in the afternoon, thinking about the idea that “He must become greater, I must become less” (John 3:30). We’ve uploaded the talks to our YouTube channel if you want to re-watch.

Monday night on camp would have been Swedish Meatball Subs followed by Chocolate Brownies prepared by our two amazing cooks.  While we can’t wait until next year to get real, authentic camp food, some leaders and campers will be trying their best to replicate the recipe for dinner tonight (albeit with much smaller quantities than are required on camp!).  While we are gutted not to be together on camp, we had so much fun today, that we can’t wait for tomorrow morning at 10am to do it all again!
