Sat 5 – Where’s Wally? In Windermere!

It’s finally here! Compass Camps 2023! Everyone’s favourite week of the year, in our brand new venue in Windermere. Everything else is the same though – amazing fun, fantastic campers, and an amazing God at the centre of it all. The food’s pretty good too!

Massive thanks to the leaders who spent Friday setting up all the tents and getting things in order. Campers arrived today at 1pm, and the excitement was apparent immediately, with a buzz in the air despite the drizzle.

With the theme for this year’s camp being books, each day will be based on a different book/author/genre. Today, the theme was Where’s Wally! So after some team-building games when the campers first arrived, they headed into Windermere town to find the Wallies (leaders dressed with red and white hats).

The evening meal was also Where’s Wally themed, with layered lasagne (with the Where’s Wally stripes) as well as Caprese salad (tomato and mozzarella layered to make the stripes). To finish was a delicious Eton mess with a Where’s Wally bobble hat on top.

The campers are currently creating their own book covers, all on a different genre, with the title of the book being their team name for the year. It’ll soon be tent prayers, where we’ll start off the week’s teaching looking at names of God.

We’re exhausted already! But energy is high, and we can’t wait for church and the beach tomorrow!

We haven’t quite sorted internet access at the school but have manage to upload some photos from our first day to our flickr Camp 2023 – Day 1 page – a samples below.
