Our History

imageresizerThe first camp was in 1975 organised by the pastors of two churches – Dick Eccles, (Brian Eccles’ dad!) and Chris Peggington. This camp was initially for the youth groups of the two churches involved.

In 1976 the camp was held in the Yorkshire Dales village of Austwick. The Methodist chapel was the base for all the meals and morning meetings for the whole camp, but tent prayers in the evening was exactly the same as camp today.

Camp continued to be held in Austwick until 1996, apart from once in 1978 when it was held at Llanymawddwy in Wales. In 1996 we moved to the nearby village of Clapham.

Coniston Sports CentreIn 2005, we moved to the Lake District, firstly to Rydal in 2005, then to Coniston where camp was held until 2023 when we moved to Windermere.  We love our current location at Windermere School, not only because of the
amazing facilities there giving campers and leaders plenty of space to play games on the field, but also because of the amazing scenery right outside the tents.

The one constant throughout the history of camp has been a passion to see young people’s lives transformed through the teaching of God’s Word from the Bible so that they may go out and live for Jesus.
