Being set in the heart of the Lake District, Compass Camps is in the perfect place for some amazing outdoor adventure activities. All campers will take part in three different activities, run by the amazing team at Climb365. Below is just a small snapshot of what we’ve done on camp before.
Rock Climbing
Surrounded by mountains, Compass Camps is just a stone’s throw away from some of the best crags for rock climbing in the country. Faced with a variety of challenges for all ages, skills and abilities, campers learn about the principles of movement and balance on the rock, as well as how to use the climbing ropes and equipment safely. But the best bit? The view from the top, and the sense of achievement when you get there!

Ghyll Scrambling
You might have seen the pictures, but perhaps don’t really know what ghyll scrambling is? Well, ghyll scrambling is the art of getting very wet from climbing up a river that flows down a mountain. Always a firm favourite with campers and leaders alike, there’s nothing more fun than getting your wetsuit on and jumping off a waterfall! And, even though we don’t like the rain the rest of the week, a downpour before the ghyll scramble makes it even better!

Kayaking
With Lake Windermere, one of the biggest lakes in Cumbria, a ten minute walk from the campsite, surely it would be rude not to go out on it for a spot of kayaking? Campers learn the basics of kayaking before getting stuck into some games on the lake, racing and more.

Raft Building
Also down on the lake, campers split into teams to build, test and sail their very own rafts. Wetsuits and buoyancy aids are a necessity, because more often than not, the first few tests don’t end well! But with time, effort and teamwork, and after a lot of laughs and fun, the campers will be out on the lake on something they’ve built themselves – amazing!

Mountain Biking
They say you never forget how to ride a bike, and you certainly won’t forget the experience of riding through forests and up mountains at Compass Camps. Campers learn the basic skills of mountain biking before going off to ride up and down the nearby hills and valleys, with the odd splash through a puddle on the way.
