Great weather for online camping!

Tuesday started with some of us enjoying weather that almost made us glad we weren’t in tents! After a few lively games to wake us all up, campers tried their hands at making paracord bracelets. Despite the difficulties of trying to explain knots over a webcam, many campers (and some of the leaders!) quickly worked out how to make their survival accessory, and were wearing them all day.

With a slight change to the order of the talks due to some recording difficulties Ole Hunt taught from Luke 4 about Jesus declaring the start of His mission in Nazareth, and how He was rejected. In our break-out groups we talked through how amazing a thing it was that Jesus could so perfectly fulfil the hundreds of Old Testament prophecies about the Messiah!

During their lunch break, campers were off filming and taking photos for their scavenger hunt (we look forward to seeing some of those!), all based around a number of camp-based puns. The videos for “Give it some welly” promise to be particularly fun!

After lunch, we had a go at some junk modelling – “rescuing” bits and pieces from our recycling to turn into camp-themed sculptural masterpieces, before going into our time of Tent Prayers. Following from the morning’s teaching, we were thinking a lot about rejection: How Jesus was rejected at Nazareth; how we can be rejected as Christians, and the wonderful truth of how, on the Cross, Jesus was rejected by God (Isa. 53:1-6) so that we could be accepted in Him.

Tonight’s meal should have been Lasagna with Pavlova for afters – just the ticket for such a sunny summer evening! We wish a hearty ‘bon appetit’ to all those campers and their families who’ve taken advantage of the recipes in their Camp Booklets!
