Tuesday – Hear Ye! Hear Ye! It’s Medieval Day on Compass Camp

Today at Compass Camp, we took a step back in time with a medieval-themed day filled with adventure, reflection, and plenty of laughs.

Our day kicked off with a thought-provoking morning meeting, diving into Revelation 8–9. We explored the dramatic imagery of the seven trumpets in a session titled “Disaster Movie?”—and it really did feel like the Bible’s version of a blockbuster! We were reminded that God is in control, and challenged to think about God’s justice and mercy in the midst of chaos, and what that means for us today.

After lunch, we laced up our boots and headed out for a blustery hike up Helm Crag. The wind was wild, but spirits were high as we climbed to the top and took in the breath-taking views. There might have been a few dramatic cloak-flaps in the wind, just to keep with the medieval mood!

Back at camp, we refuelled with a hearty tea of sausages and mash – the perfect comfort food after a windswept trek then rounded off the day with a classic camp quiz with rounds of historic facts True or False, backwards hits, Pictionary, who’s who, and leaders year of birth. The answers were hotly debated, and competition was fierce – but all in good fun!

From trumpet blasts to craggy paths and quiz night laughs, today was a day full of highs (quite literally!). Looking forward to whatever tomorrow brings!
