Tuesday aboard SS Compass

After another rainy night in our tents, we awoke to the welcome news of a dry and sunny weather forecast for the day ahead. With hungry bodies fuelled by a hearty breakfast and sleepy brains made alert with some outside pirate-themed activities, we turned to the Bible for some soul-nourishment. We looked at John chapter 4 and our theme verse for the week, John 3:16, and learned more about what it means to believe in the name of Jesus; believing in His Word, believing in Him as Saviour, and trusting Him with our lives.

Once lunches were packed and wet clothes were left out in the sun to dry, we headed off on our afternoon walk to the renowned Tarn Hows. We arrived at the scenic tarns in perfect time for lunch which was followed by some skilful hill-rolling, a walk around the tarns and what we had all been waiting for: ice-cream!

In the evening we were treated to some delicious Mexican fajitas followed by pancakes for desert. After the clearing up had been done and tummies had settled, we gathered on the field for some water-based activities. The campers showed no fear of getting wet (despite today being the first opportunity to keep a pair of clothes dry for the whole day) and showed great enthusiasm for throwing cups of water at one another … and their leaders!

Our day finished with tent prayers where we looked in our tent groups at the first few verses of Hebrews chapter 11 and discussed faith, creation and God’s existence. A good day had by all.

Sadly, the internet connection at the centre isn’t great so we’ve had problems uploading photos this year. We’ll upload what we can through the week and the others after camp.
