Day 4 of Compass Camp
Thankfully, the weather calmed down last night, allowing us to have a more restful sleep. We had a tasty breakfast which was followed by a thought-provoking talk on Daniel 4, looking at pride and Jesus’ ultimate act of humility on the cross.
Once cleaning up was complete we all packed our bags and prepared for our walk. Thankfully the rain held off for most of the time and only the wind made it a little cold. Following a picnic lunch a little way into the walk, we ambled up hills, over rivers and came down back to Coniston Water. Both campers and leaders enjoyed spending time with each other, learning more and having good conversations! And some campers even went (fell!) into the river.
Although the campers anticipated the walk to be really long and tiring, it’s safe to say we all had a great time this afternoon! After our walk we took the camp photos: some were smiling faces and some were pulling faces… especially from the tent, The Ugly Step-Sisters. On returning to the school, despite our aching feet, a game of rounders began.
We finally had a well-earned Mexican dinner from our wonderful cooks, which was delicious. Our evening was taken up by ”The Incredibles’ themed games, hunting for ‘invisible’ leaders and clamouring over tables and under chairs. We will certainly sleep well tonight!
