Camp is over for another year :( We had a great week – amazing teaching, fantastic weather, a lot of fun on the outdoor activities and a great time playing super hero games.

The last day was more relaxed with games in Ambleside and a some time for a bit of shopping then back to Coniston for the evening finale where we dressed up as our favourite superhero or villain to complete a series of challenges, some of them quite messy, to foil Loki’s attempt to avenger the avengers and conquer the world.

Looking back at the week Matt Redman’s song Never Once summed up camp in more ways than one.

Standing on this mountain top
looking just how far we’ve come
knowing that for every step
you were with us.

Enjoying the breathtaking view of Lake Coniston from the top of the mountain scramble on Holme Fell we were thrilled with the achievement. We had overcome our fears to scale cliffs with not a few bumps and bruises on the way. It served as a wonderful illustration of God’s faithfulness to us.

In the studies in the story of Jacob we learnt so much about God’s faithfulness. How God’s was softly speaking to Jacob yet he continued in his deceitful bad habits. How eventually God had to shout and Jacob in the midst of the crisis of fleeing Laban and facing Esau finally trusted in God and pleading for his help. The messed up family lives of Isaac and Jacob and their character flaws we so relevant to the “modern” world we live in showing that God uses the most desperate of situations and people entirely through his grace.

Thanks to everyone who has supported us in prayer over the week and to the tent leaders, activity leaders and cooks who worked so hard and made camp run smoothly. Please continue to pray for the campers that God would continue to work in their lives.
