Monday’s theme is Musicals, and campers have been singing their way around the camp and their afternoon activities.

This morning we heard from Ole again, looking into the next part of our journey through the life of Jesus, the Transfiguration. There was plenty of alliterative headings, one for each of the verses of Luke 9:28-36. Ole clearly explained the importance of the Old Testament figures of Moses and Elijah appearing to bring the Old and New together, as well as the cloud of God’s Glory validating the Divine nature of Christ.

After a quick scene change, and some more singing, campers set off to an undisclosed part of the Lake District, to go rock climbing. Having had lunch and met the instructors, they hiked up into the hills, lugging all the kit that was needed for climbing. They learnt the necessary knots, and tied each other on to the ropes, before belaying each other as they climbed, and catching them when they fell off (some more frequently than others!). There were plenty of displays of perseverance paying out, and individuals getting involved and taking on all the challenging climbs; well done to all of those who took part, even when slightly reticent.

Headed back to camp and a hearty lasagne had been prepared by our wonderful cooks, setting the campers up well for an evening of water games at Coniston Water. However, campers are still insisting (as I type) that they should be allowed to dance to Cotton Eye Joe before they go, as it is a musical theme today!

As usual We’ve uploaded some photos from the day on our flickr site: Compass Camp 2019 – Day 3
