Monday 8th

Monday started with breakfast, followed by two talks – one for each age group.

Phil Heaps gave the talk to the older group, looking at our theme for the week from Matthew 28 verses 18 to 20. The theme he looked at today was Obedience, explaining that we are saved by grace, not through obedience. It was explained that we obey because we are saved – out of love, and to please God.

Tom Johnson took the younger group, looking at the theme of the Trinity. He explained the need for the Trinity – in order for God to love, and biblical evidence pointing towards the trinity. Whilst Phil Heaps spoke to the older group on obedience.

Today was the first day of official activities, and so the campers were split into three age categories.

The youngest group went ghyll scrambling at a river nearby. This was the first time a number of them had done this, but seemed to be enjoyed by all!

The middle group did rock climbing in Great Langdale. The weather improved after a wet start and all had a lovely afternoon at the crag.

The oldest group took part in raft building on Lake Coniston.

After dinner, a wide game involving water bombs was organised for all the campers.

Once again we’ve uploaded the photos from the day, including some group photos, to our flickr channel.

Last night there seemed to be a general improvement in Tent Prayers, with leaders reporting that campers were getting more involved in discussions.

Give thanks for a day enjoyed by all, good weather (generally!), and for the two challenging talks that were heard by the campers this morning.

Pray that the campers will be challenged by what they heard, and that tent prayers tonight will be provoking and challenging, and that all campers will get involved.

Pray also for the weather later this week, we have severe weather warnings for Wednesday and Thursday which could significantly impact our schedule.
