Our final full day at Compass Camp arrived with a theme that pointed us forward: The Future.
In the morning, we gathered for our last talk together, exploring Revelation 21–22 in a session titled “Happily Ever After”. We were reminded of the ultimate ending to God’s story – a future where God’s people live with Him forever in His perfect world. It was both a comfort and a challenge as we prepared to head home.
The afternoon took us on an adventure to Hawkshead for a picnic lunch in the sunshine, followed by our Back to the Future-inspired photo scavenger hunt: Back to Compass Camp – Hawkshead Challenge. While no one managed to track down a real DeLorean (despite valiant searching), there were plenty of creative and hilarious photo submissions.
Back at camp, the time travel theme continued as campers and leaders arrived at dinner in costumes from any era. We saw cavemen, Victorians, space travellers – and our winner, Tilde, who brilliantly portrayed an older, future version of herself.
After a tasty fajita feast, the campers took to the stage with a short, time-travel-themed sketch to advertise Compass Camp. The result? Lots of laughs, a few questionable “historical” facts, and a glowing review from the audience.
The evening rounded off with the eagerly awaited results from our week’s competitions. The Ambitious Boffin Committee (or just “the Boffins”) narrowly beat the Crusaders to claim the Tent of the Year trophy. The Campers of the Year award went to Stella (girls) and Barnaby (boys), recognising their outstanding enthusiasm and character throughout the week.
To finish, Josh led us in an epilogue from Revelation 22, encouraging us to live in light of the future hope we have in Jesus – a perfect ending to a week full of friendship, faith, and fun.
Tomorrow, we say our goodbyes – but the memories (and a few suspect fancy dress outfits) will stay with us for years to come.
