Day 4 – Sheep, cows and The Lamb

Day 4 on camp!

Another beautiful day dawned on the Lake District and all the campers were up bright and early at 7.30am, raring to go. Well most of them were. A few needed a little encouragement to get out of bed!

The big news today is that the farmer and his sheepdog collected all of the sheep from the neighbouring field. A herd of cows has now moved in.

After a hearty breakfast, which included fried eggs, beans and hash browns, Jeff Haskins from Lancaster, talked on Isaiah 53 and the Lamb of God. Why do we need a sacrifice and why does Jesus fulfil all of the requirements so that we can be made right with God once more.

After the meeting we all headed out for the Camp walk. Always a highlight! This year, we walked from camp up to Tilberthwaite for lunch by the river. The younger campers then went over Coniston Fells before dropping down into Coppermines valley for a paddle in the river. The older campers went up Wetherlam and back down into Coniston. It was great to spend time together as a group and to find out a bit more about each other. Having worked up a healthy appetite, the chicken curry, Spanish Chicken and sticky toffee pudding went down particularly well.

Josh’s camp quiz quickly followed. Here are a few questions to test yourself with –

The leaders then had to act out various sports for the campers to guess. The wrestling and breakdancing were exceptionally well acted.

Once completed, it was off to clean teeth and get ready for tent prayers. Hopefully everyone will have a good nights rest so that they are all ready to start again tomorrow.
