Today was the first full day on camp, and we got off to a good start by going to church in Ulverston! Jeff did the first talk of the week, which was about how the wise men went to see Jesus when he was born, and how their immediate reaction was to worship him, which was great!
After church, we went to the beach for food and games. There was a dead jellyfish washed up on the sand, which was disgusting! After everyone had got bored of that, we had an awesome picnic prepared by the wonderful cooks! We then had a sand snowman building competition, which the boys’ tent (the 7 wise men) won!
Lois and Chris had planned a wide game on the sand dunes, which involved hunting for presents that Santa had left all over, while avoiding the pesky elves (Eunice and Josh) who were trying to steal their presents! One of the girls tents (the Scroogettes) won by finding 15 wrapped up onions!
Soon after getting back to school, Jeff spoke to us again, this time on Jesus’ meeting with Nicodemus in John 3, which was about what it meant to be “born again”. We then ate a fantastic turkey Christmas dinner, followed by black forest gateau.
We’re going to play some quieter, indoor games this evening, because the campers are already tired out on only the second day!
As always check out the photos on our flickr site.
