We’re halfway through our buccaneering voyage, and this morning Brian spoke about Jesus as our Good Shepherd. He is the one who lays down his life for his sheep, and we are his flock – prone to wander, but always brought back to safety.
Afterwards we went for a walk, but no landlubbers would have survived the amount of water we had to deal with (mainly from the sky). The clouds did lift though and the hills and mountains were only more spectacular for the rising mist. Campers showed off their impressive stone-skimming skills, easily enough to sink any enemy ships.
We then had some time to roam the high seas of Grasmere village before settling down to a stupendous dinner of parrot wings and Blue Lagoon dessert – the galley crew excelled themselves again.
This evening the junior leaders ran the Game of Games, involving slip’n’slide Tug and War; watery pistol fights, sword duels and obstacle courses; and, of course, a lettuce-eating contest. Needless to say, all the crew finished the day thoroughly soaked but very cheerful.
