Captain’s Log: Thursday – Sharks, Sunshine and Seafaring

Avast, ye readers! When our sailors awoke this morning, they were greeted by a repast fit for a pirate king – waffles and fish (catch of the day!), garnished with lemon slices to keep the scurvy at bay on the high seas!

We were then encouraged to hear how Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life – and how the truth found in Him sets us free.

Aye mateys, it was a jolly afternoon indeed as our trusty campers abseiled from the cliffs (perhaps examining the crows’ nests up top along the way). During the ghyll scramble, others navigated the chilly waters of the Lakes with excitement and true seafaring spirit.

They returned just in time to walk the planks (aka the dining room floorboards), and our hungry sailors feasted on Mexican wraps and guacamole.

But wait! The day’s action was not yet over. For the evening game, the campers became shark bait, chased across the field as they sought to collect treasure (translation for ye landlubbers: plastic balls). But with a cheery ‘yo ho ho’, our campers ran faster than a main sail caught up in a gale. Having outrun the sharks, they returned victorious and prepared for a well-deserved night’s sleep.

Tomorrow, we’ll weigh anchor, hoist the colours, and gallivant into the neighbouring pirate kingdom: Ambleside!
