The Last Night

The last night of camp is always special. With the activities based as usual around the theme, the evening is a celebration of the week at camp and a chance to let our hair down. We dress up, have a more relaxed meal, play some games and on occasion take to the stage. Tent points picked up through the week are totted up and the tent prize is award along with the coveted Camper of the Year prize. As well as the fun and games we also take time to reflect on what we’ve learned from God’s word and think about how we’ll apply that once we return to “normal” life.

Camp fire

We didn’t want this year to be any different so as an extra event we’ll meet at 8pm on Wednesday evening around a virtual camp fire. If weather permits and you have the equipment required then by all means join us outside around a real camp fire or firepit, if not we have supplied a candle so from the comfort of home can share a toasted marshmallow with us!

S’mores!

A toasted marshmallow not enough? Feeling adventurous? Then why not try your hand at making s’mores. The recipe is simple enough and so easy to make. You know of course why they’re called s’mores? Because you always want s’more!

digestivesmores

Ingredients
2 digestive biscuits
a thin slab of chocolate (milk or dark whichever you prefer)
1 marshmallow

Toast your marshmallow, once it’s nice and hot put the chocolate on top of one digestive, then the marshmallow and top it with the other digestive. Squeeze it into a nice sandwich. Here’s the tricky part, you want the chocolate to begin to melt so don’t jump straight in and eat it but don’t wait too long either or your marshmallow will cool!

Here are some nice variations.

  • Use chocolate digestives instead of plain ones and a chocolate bar
  • Add a strawberry to the centre of the sandwich
  • Sprinkle a few chilli flakes onto the chocolate
  • Like hazelnuts? swap the chocolate bar for Nutella
  • Try some flavoured chocolate bars.
